Background
John Egwu (EJ) is an operator who has spent the last decade building and scaling technology businesses across Africa. At AutoChek Financial Services, he leads the commercial and operational engine behind automotive financing across 9 African markets. A member of AutoChek's founding team, he previously led the company's expansion into East Africa, launching operations in Kenya and Uganda. Prior to AutoChek, John held leadership roles at Cars45 (acquired by OLX Group) and Jumia (NYSE: JMIA), shaping commercial operations, customer experience and execution at scale. He also serves on the Board of The Adaptis Group Africa, mentors founders within the Atlantic Canada startup ecosystem, and enjoys contributing to conversations on scaling businesses, operational excellence, and venture building. John is passionate about helping founders and leadership teams build businesses that scale across emerging markets.
